Below are topics studied in Year 9 with independent learning actives for each one. As well as the activities below, students might like to visit places such as the Secret Nuclear Bunker, Audley End House, the Museum of London, the Imperial War Museum and the Cabinet War Rooms to enhance their learning and understanding of the topics. 

Industrial Revolution
Read through chapter 1 of the digital Kerboodle book (pp.8-31) and add notes using the online tools
Watch the clip from the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. Note down the changes that happened in Britain over time
Make notes on life in Victorian Britain using the following website: http://www.bl.uk/victorian-britain. Make notes under the following headings: Medicine, Transport and Crime
Research how criminals were punished during the Victorian era using the following website: http://vcp.e2bn.org/ 
Answer the following questions using your research: What
 do you think the purpose of punishment was? What different types of crime were there? Why do you think crime was so common?
